Delta state Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori has stated that nobody, not even his predecessor, can impose those to be appointed into the state executive council on him.
He was reacting to reports that the Government was under pressure on the choice of cabinet members.
Chief Press Secretary to Governor of the state, Sir Festus Ahon said the Governor is taking his time to pick suitable and competent hands to be cabinet members.
Ahon said: “First, the State House of Assembly was constituted on June 13 and thereafter went on recess for two weeks and only reconvened on Tuesday June 27.
“The Governor will pick credible and capable persons devoid of sentiments that will help him deliver on his M.O.R.E Agenda for Deltans.

Many of my readers across political and socio- cultural divides, have asked that I repeat this column again this week. And because of that, I humbly seek to postpone what was prepares for this week to next Sunday. I appreciate the appreciation. The new federal government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has truly hit the ground running ,hitting everywhere that needed to be hit and overhauling areas that need overhauling. Unlike the immediate past snail- speed government of former President Muhamadu Buhari that took almost a year before identifying areas that needed to be hit or overhauled,the Tinubu train has started moving. The speed with which he kicstarted his government has raised hope that at least, even if you are in court with him regarding the fairness and cleanliness of the Presidential polls, you will not be against the fact that he is one candidate that has something to offer. A common proverb has it that one cannot give a dog a bad name to hang it. Tinubu has started well by taking some actions, rightly or wrongly, but at least in his eyes as leader, can add value to governance. The removal of the fuel subsidy and that of electricity in the pipeline ,are policies that have been taken and biting hard on the people with severe consequences. The President promised to to do so during campaigns and he fulfilled his promised. What is left is his ability to make it work well for the comfort and convenience of Nigerians. Because of the bad economic situation on ground, Nigerians are giving time patiently to see how the harsh decision will translate into something better and prosperous, hence the present level of tolerance.
Secondly, the president has demonstrated sensitivity and commitment by sacking the security chiefs creating a good impression that a new and more vibrant structure will be put in place. His appointments are so far seen as more balanced that Buhari’s who picked all security chiefs from the north.
His dissolution of the rds and governing councils of all agencies and parastatals is another action being celebrated by Nigerians. This is because of the endemic politicisation that characterised the Buhari era.
Akpabio Mourns Death Of Salvation Army’s Members

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has commiserated the leadership and members of The Salvation Army, over the death of their officers and members in a fatal accident along the Lagos-Benin expressway, describing it as shocking and tragic.
Akpabio’s reaction was contained in a statement from the Media Unit of his office and made available to journalists in Abuja on Sunday.
According to the statement, “the President of the 10th Senate, Godswill Akpabio, received with great shock, the news of the death of members of this great commission in a fatal road accident around O Bridge, near Benin-City, which claimed the lives of 12 officers of the church and a baby while returning from a missionary assignment in Lagos State.
“I commiserate Commissioner Daniel Kasuso, the Territorial Commander. I pray for the repose of the souls of the departed faithfuls. I pray that God grants those they left behind, the fortitude to bear this great loss.”
Jumbo Cost of Governance: Buhari’s food budget for Tinubu, Shettima creates ripples

The economy is in a bind, inevitably spurring the call by the Tinubu administration for sacrifice on the part of the citizenry to pull the nation out.
On his inauguration day, President Bola Tinubu removed subsidy on petrol that had cost the nation trillions of Naira as part of the sacrifice.
He has since followed up with the merging of the multiple foreign exchange rates, a situation that has led to the depreciation of the Naira at the official window.
The implication is not lost on the citizenry who now have to cope with the attendant inflation.
And arising from the foreign exchange rates merger was the announcement last week that electricity tariff would go up as power distribution companies said the concession they were getting from the official window was gone and this would raise their cost of production.
The announcement has since been reversed but the hike is only a matter of time as the reversal came about because due process was not followed and the tariff had not been approved by the authorities
Also last week, indications emerged that vehicle owners will have to pay yearly for proof of ownership contrary to the outgoing era that makes the payment one-off in the life of a vehicle.
Other belt-tightening measures to free funds for government to meet its obligations may soon follow.
