In an exclusive interview with Colonel Stan-Labo, a veteran of the Nigerian Army and political analyst, has said that Peter Obi would have done things differently regarding the removal of fuel subsidy removal by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu. According to Col. Stan-Labo, Obi would have implemented measures to allete the impact on the Nigerian people and ensure transparency and accountability in the process.
Col. Stan-Labo asserted that if Peter Obi were in power, the removal of the fuel subsidy would not have been abrupt. Instead, it would have been accompanied by comprehensive conditions and well-thought-out plans to cushion the adverse effects on citizens. Obi would have relied on verifiable empirical data to determine the actual consumption levels and expose any manipulations of the figures.
Furthermore, the political analyst highlighted that Peter Obi’s leadership would have prioritized good governance characterized by transparency, accountability, and integrity. These core principles would have guided the entire process, ensuring that the government’s actions were always in the best interest of the people.
He said: “Peter Obi would have done things differently. In the first place, the removal of the fuel subsidy would have come with conditions, not just like that. He would have put measures in place to cater for the aftermath on the people. From experience, he would have come up with necessary verifiable empirical data that would clearly indicate what our true consumption level is; what the cooked-up consumption level is; how much would be saved from the process. How much would be applied to assuage the pains of Nigerians; then how much gains would emerge for the people. All these I state here because “good governance characterised by transparency accountability and integrity would be seen at work.”
