Hon. Godfrey Gaiya, former Sports Committee chairman, House of Representatives and newly-appointed special adviser, Political Matters to House of Representatives Speaker, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, has attributed the his party’s defeat in the 2023 presidential election to disunity.
It would be recalled that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was declared as the winner of February 25th election.
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu recorded over eight million votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Mr Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
Speaking during an exclusive interview with Sun paper, Godfrey Gaiya said Atiku Abubakar would have won the election squarely if Peter Obi had not left the party to join Labour Party.
Gaiya also said the emergence of G-5 governors didn’t help their course.
According to him, he predicted that it would not be easy for the Peoples Democratic Party in the last election if they fail to put their house in order.
Hear him “Peter Obi and Labour Party cost PDP the presidential election. I predicted that it will be difficult for PDP if we fail to resolve the crisis with Wike. Don’t forget that both Wike and Peter Obi were part and parcel of the PDP.” Sunday Sun paper quoted Gaiya as saying.
