Nigerian street-pop artist Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been released from the Oke Kura Correctional Centre in Ilorin, Kwara State. His release on April 15, 2025, came after Fuji musician Saheed Osupa withdrew the charges against him, following mediation efforts by human rights activist Omoyele Sowore.
Portable was arrested on April 12 in Abeokuta and transferred to Ilorin, facing charges including criminal defamation, cyberstalking, and incitement, stemming from a petition filed by Osupa. Initially, he was granted bail set at ₦1 million with stringent conditions, which he couldn’t meet, leading to his remand in custody.​
Sowore’s intervention prompted Osupa to drop the charges, resulting in Portable’s release. Upon his release, Portable was seen with a clean-shaven head, accompanied by two of his wives.CONTINUE READING
