In a significant political development in Abia State, over 100 members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), led by Hon. Sunday Anya Ojo, have defected to the Labour Party (LP). The mass defection took place at the residence of Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu in Amaekpu Ohafia, Ohafia Local Government Area.
Hon. Ojo, a former Senior Special Assistant on Youth Mobilization under the previous PDP administration, criticized the PDP’s current state in Abia, stating, “PDP is in a sorry state right now—in fact, PDP is in the mortuary.” He pledged his full political structure to the Labour Party.
Deputy Governor Emetu welcomed the defectors, emphasizing that their inclusion would strengthen the Labour Party’s position ahead of the 2027 elections
