How to report POS owners who charge higher than anticipated fees

Nigerians can call the Central Bank of Nigeria’s emergency hotlines to report Points of Sale employees who are selling brand-new naira bills or who are demanding more than N200 for withdrawals up to N10,000.

This was announced by Mr. Joseph Omayuku, Director of the CBN Governor’s Department, during a press conference with journalists on Tuesday in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State.

Omayuku asked the public to report errant PoS agents by contacting the CBN contact center at 07002255226; Telephone Ext: 711025 – 7; contactcbn@cbn.gov.ng; and its social media accounts. Nigerians have felt the pain of the new naira note shortage so acutely,While several state governors have decided to sue the federal government for the difficulties faced in their individual states, many people still refuse to accept the old notes as legal cash.

Despite the difficulties associated with the redesign policy, banks’ online payment platforms continue to face reports of glitches that cause transactions to fail.

According to observers, the problems arise because digital platforms are not robust enough to handle the current boom in electronic transactions as consumers turn to online payments as a result of the lack of cash.

Online payment problems are cited as a cause by those who reject them.

Although it is “not as terrible as to warrant rejection of transfer payments,” the CBN official refuted the parallel.
