Speaking at the movie’s premiere, Ajao expressed the emotional and financial challenges she faced:
“I’m happy tonight comes fast. I’ve been working and working and hoping things get better. This project is so dear to my heart, honestly because I sold all I had at that moment. My buildings, I sold my land, my cars, my gold.”
The film, which explores the story of a king’s quest for an heir and the ensuing turmoil, was released on March 29, 2024. Despite the personal costs, Ajakaju achieved significant commercial success, grossing ₦63.2 million within its first three days, marking one of the highest openings for a Nollywood film in 2024.
