Human Right Activist and former Nigerian Minister, Shehu Sani has highlighted some of the reasons why dialogue with Bandits would not solve the banditry issues in Nigeria. 

The Minister made this known through his official Twitter handle. According to Shehu Sani, the banditry issues facing the country is aimed at extorting and blackmailing the citizens. He said the bandits are not founded for any political, ethnical or religious reasons. 

Secondly, the Minister stated that the bandits don’t operate under a single leader. According to him, one cannot say exactly who the leader of the bandits is. “They operates in clusters and and criminal gangs,” Shehu wrote.

Lastly, the Minister added that the bandits are motivated by money. He said the reason why they abduct and kill is because of money. 

He went on to differentiate between Bandits, Iswap an Boko Haram. He said the latter does it’s attack and abduction under the disguise of religion. 

Finally, Shehu Sani tagged the dialogue with bandits as a waste of time. He said the governors who tried it before are now regretting it.
