FG Declares Public Holiday for Sallah Celebration 2025

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared public holidays in celebration of the 2025 Sallah festivities, also known as Eid-el-Kabir.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Interior, the holidays will be observed on Monday, June 9, and Tuesday, June 10, 2025. The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who congratulated all Muslims in the country and urged them to use the occasion to pray for peace, unity, and progress in Nigeria……..CONTINUE READING

The Minister also called on Nigerians to embrace the values of love, compassion, and tolerance that Sallah represents. He encouraged citizens to reflect on the importance of sacrifice and devotion, which are the core values of Eid-el-Kabir.

Security agencies across the country have also been placed on alert to ensure a peaceful and safe holiday period for citizens. The government advised travelers to move cautiously and report any suspicious activities to appropriate authorities.

Eid-el-Kabir, one of the most significant Islamic festivals, is marked by special prayers, animal sacrifice, and sharing of meals with family, friends, and the less privileged.
