2023: Fayose reveals only man that could have truly challenged Tinubu
As the 2023 election approaches, Isaac Fayose, younger brother to ex-Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Friday said only Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State could have given Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a run for his money.
Wike came second behind Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary election held in May.
Aminu Tambuwal, Governor of Sokoto State, who was also a presidential aspirant, stepped down for Atiku at the last minute.
Tambuwal’s last-minute withdrawal from the race is believed to have helped to secure victory for the former vice-president. Tambuwal at the venue of the election urged his supporters to cast their votes for Atiku.
Atiku ended up defeating 12 other aspirants including Wike to emerge as the party’s presidential flagbearer.
“Gov. Wike na better cruise. Only him could have given Tinubu a real competition for that 2023 presidential seat,” Fayose wrote on his known Facebook page with an accompanying video of Governor Wike giving out his suit and hat after complaining of heat at a public event.
